Tables Signature Dinner Promotion Offers Personalised European Fare at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok

20.09.2012

Chef Suparek "Ton" Aekkuttiyakorn prepares Boston Lobster Bisque

Tables quickly gained a reputation for providing a unique ambience after it opened in 2009, as it was, and still is, Bangkok’s first and only traditional European Restaurant with tableside cooking.  The elegant surroundings are home to several cooking stations, each providing its very own signature dish.

Diners can see their Boston Lobster Bisque being freshly prepared on one table, while Serrano Ham with Scottish Smoked Ham is sliced on another.  Champagne Risotto with Black Truffles and Reggiano Parmesan is cooked to order, while Caesar Salad has its own table, as does the cheese selection.

All these dishes and more are being served in the Tables Signature Dinner Promotion, which runs from October 1st to November 30th 2012.  The evening begins with Seafood on Ice, and then guests are free to order as many appetisers as they wish.  A main course of seafood or steak can then be selected, with signature dishes such as Steak au Poivre, Grilled Australian Lamb Chops, Pan Fried Sea Bass, Flamed Tiger Prawns, Boston Lobster Thermidor, Dover Dole Meuniere and Slow Cooked Duck Leg among the choices.

Just one price applies, B2,200++ per person, although wine pairings are on a by the glass or by the bottle rate.  The price also includes the choice of either a European Cheese Selection or the Tables Dessert Platter to complete the dining experience.

Oasis Spa – Bangkok’s Very Own Tranquillity Base

13.09.2012

Jean (Hans) Arp, the French/German sculptor, painter, poet and abstract artist once said: “Soon silence will have passed into legend. Man has turned his back on silence. Day after day he invents machines and devices that increase noise and distract humanity from the essence of life, contemplation, meditation.”

It is forgotten by many in this tornado paced world of ours how beneficial taking time out for some rest and relaxation can be.  Bangkok is one of the fastest living cities there is, but even here relaxing retreats can be discovered.  One such is the aptly named Oasis Spa.

The Oasis Spa at Sukhumvit 31 is one of one of several to be found around Thailand.  Branches have also been opened in Chiang Mai, Phuket and Pattaya.  All have a mission statement to provide “The Ultimate Thai Lanna Spa Experience”.

Italian Chef Daniele Bettini Introduces New Set Lunch Menus at il cielo, Dusit Thani Bangkok

12.09.2012

New Italian Chef Daniele Bettini at il cielo

Daniele Bettini is only recently arrived as Italian Chef at il cielo Italian Restaurant, but he has quickly stamped his own mark on a set of revamped menus.  Lunchtime diners can expect to be greeted by a brand new menu every business day, from Monday to Friday.  The idea is that patrons will never tire of the surroundings, with dishes created and re-arranged on a daily basis.

Hailing from Venice, Daniele has come to Bangkok after tours of duty in Singapore, Madrid and Barcelona.  He likes to implement new ideas by introducing guests to the different tastes of Italy.  "Italian cooking is not just about tomatoes and basil", he says, "I like to utilise dishes from every region of the country, using fresh ingredients made by myself and my team.  Everything served has been made by hand, from the pasta to the freshly baked bread."

The restaurant has its very own bakery which operates 24 hours a day to produce a delicious range of bread, and a wood fired pizza oven that turns mundane dough bases into very reasonably priced gourmet pizzas.
