If you are a Bangkok Sunday brunch aficionado who hasn’t yet sampled the delights of Trader Vic’s version, then you have a treat in store, as the best of eastern and western culinary styles have been assembled for your dining pleasure.  The leisurely 10 minute boat ride from Saphan Taksin pier to Anantara Resort and Spa gives you the chance to plan your food attack strategy, which is needed, because the selection of cuisines on offer beggars belief.

From refined Thai cuisine creations by famed TV Chef Chumpol Jangprai, to Chinese favourites, to Japanese staples like sushi, sashimi and teppanyaki provided by Benihana, situated right next door to Trader Vic’s, the selection of Asian dishes is impressive.  When you then add Indian, Arab and Italian cuisine, plus a range of fresh seafood that includes oysters, crabs and shrimps, along with live cooking stations delivering made to order individual choices from freshly cooked steaks to gourmet sausages, then you need to make sure you have packed your appetite.

Soups, a massive bread selection, dips, cold cuts and salads are all on offer to get your meal started, and you can conclude your dining session, if you are not already full, with a medley of desserts that range from pure decadence to traditional treats.  There is also a cheese table that will delight all cheese lovers with a dozen or more varieties to choose from.

Trader Vic’s Sunday Brunch promises a feast that guests will want to take their time over, which is eminently suitable given that the venue sits right alongside a quiet stretch of the Chao Phraya River.  Linger awhile, loosen your belt, and take in the ambience as relaxing live music by the restaurant’s resident band takes away the stresses of the working week.

The Sunday brunch is available every week from 11.30am until 3pm.  It is priced at 1,400++  baht per person including displayed juices, or 2,199++ baht per person with the addition of free flow soft drinks, cocktails (the signature Mai Tai deserves to be sampled), draught beer, house wines and sparkling wine.
