Jean (Hans) Arp, the French/German sculptor, painter, poet and abstract artist once said: “Soon silence will have passed into legend. Man has turned his back on silence. Day after day he invents machines and devices that increase noise and distract humanity from the essence of life, contemplation, meditation.”
It is forgotten by many in this tornado paced world of ours how beneficial taking time out for some rest and relaxation can be. Bangkok is one of the fastest living cities there is, but even here relaxing retreats can be discovered. One such is the aptly named Oasis Spa.
The Oasis Spa at Sukhumvit 31 is one of one of several to be found around Thailand. Branches have also been opened in Chiang Mai, Phuket and Pattaya. All have a mission statement to provide “The Ultimate Thai Lanna Spa Experience”.

A range of spa packages are available, but the speciality of the house is the "Four Hand Massage," where highly trained therapists pamper guests while coaxing their body into a state of serenity.
The spa is housed within a colonial style complex with private gardens and ornate water features. It can be reached on foot from the Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain station within around 15 minutes, although the spa offers a free pick up service.
Oasis Spa’s website perfectly sums up the retreat as “your oasis of regeneration, rejuvenation, and deep relaxation hidden in plain sight in the middle of the city”.
