A New Look and a World of Exquisite Artisanal Flavours
Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok reopened its flagship Mandarin Oriental Shop in the exclusive Siam Paragon shopping mall last night (Thursday, 16 October 2014), after extensive renovations.
Under the innovative leadership of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s Executive Pastry Chef, Claus Olsen, the revamped gourmet bakery and coffee shop on the ground floor of Siam Paragon continues The Oriental’s much loved tradition of gastronomic creativity, presenting a wonderful selection of patisseries, viennoiserie, cakes and chocolate. The Mandarin Oriental Shop has been catering to Bangkok’s gourmands for nearly ten years.
Handcrafted gourmet chocolate and signature Baumkuchen are on offer, along with Chef Claus’ innovative creations, traditional favourites and signature items such as Cassis and Pearls; Chilled Apple; and classic Dundee Fruit Cake. The hotel’s famous handmade macarons come in twenty delectable flavours, including the ever popular Baileys, mojito, rose, chocolate truffle, kaffir lime and coconut Thai.
According to Mandarin Oriental Bangkok’s General Manager, Mrs. Amanda Hyndman, the gourmet bakery and coffee shop’s well established and refined atmosphere, rich in gourmet tradition, has been both retained and indeed significantly enhanced. “The new design elements reflect the luxury of the handcrafted culinary creations, while the new expansive layout creates a greater functionality to meet the changing needs of our sophisticated clientele,” she says.
With an elegant seating area, the new shop offers the perfect setting for a delicious break with a fine selection of coffees and Mariage Frères teas and gourmet sandwiches such as smoked salmon, turkey avocado, roast beef and chicken Caesar. Taking inspiration from Siam Paragon’s exclusive haute couture brands, the grand institution of traditional English afternoon tea comes with a fashion twist – pastries and sweets in the shape of handbags, shoes and even essential cosmetics.
Gastronomes will delight in the real life setting of a bakery in the centre of the boutique where classic favourites such as artisanal breads, Danish pastries and croissants are freshly baked.
Customers at Siam Paragon can also browse The Oriental’s gift range, including confectionary, teas, Oriental jams and seasonal favourites such as Valentine’s delicacies, Easter celebrations, Chinese mooncakes and exquisite festive hampers. The new Mandarin Oriental Shop features eye-catching designer packaging, featuring the unique and distinctive heritage architecture of La Grande Dame – Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok.
Mandarin Oriental Shops use only the finest ingredients, including couverture chocolate imported from Europe, specially selected Californian almonds and special liquid butter from Europe that gives its products a unique soft texture.
