Mandarin Oriental Anniversary Wine Launch

Bangkok’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel celebrates its 135th anniversary in 2011, and to mark the occasion two private label wines from Monsoon Valley vineyards have been launched.

The specially labelled Monsoon Valley Colombard and Shiraz wines will be available in all bars and restaurants in the legendary hotel from July 2011 onwards.

Winemaker Kathrin Puff, from Siam Winery, and Kim Wachtveitl, the Wine Marketing and Business Development Director of Siam Winery, were on hand to present the special labels at a wine evening at the hotel’s Bamboo Bar.

For every bottle of the 135th Anniversary Private Label wine sold, the hotel will donate 135 baht to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s ‘Support’ Foundation.

Oliver Schnatz, left, Executive Assistant Manager in charge of food and beverage at the hotel said “Thai wine has come a long way over the past 10 years and Monsoon Valley has been served at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok since 2003.  We want to support the Thai wine industry and are proud to have worked with Monsoon Valley at many food festivals over the past years.”

The bar’s new resident singer LaDee Streeter (below right) presented a range of well known jazz and blues classics, along with original material that included her latest single “Your Clothes Won’t Fit”.  She will perform her unique blend of Traditional Jazz Swing, Bossa Nova, Ballads, Blues and R&B in the historic bar until October 31st.
