Austrian celebrity winemaker Dorli Muhr-van der Niepoort (second left) was guest of honour when Fin (Fabulous is Needed) Wine Company held a wine tasting evening in her honour at The Playroom at Oriental Residence in Bangkok.
The “Two Women Culinary Event" featured amazing wines from Dorli and fabulous Austrian and Thai food creations from chef Benjawan.
The spontaneously organised party heralded Dorli’s first visit to Thailand.
Carnuntum is a lesser-known Austrian wine region, east of Vienna, and this is where the Muhr-van der Niepoort winery is based. It is a partnership between PR Queen Dorli Muhr and Portuguese winemaker Dirk Niepoort.
FIN have brought four wines from Dorli Muhr-van der Niepoort to Thailand; her top wine ‘Spitzerberg’ comes from a single, old vine Blaufränkisch vineyard, and Carnuntum is made with younger Blaufränkisch vines. In addition her ‘Cuvee vom Berg’, a red wine Blend from Syrah and St. Laurent was sampled, along with her first white wine blend.
FIN also presented five fabulous dry white wines and one sweet wine from Austrian winemaker of the year 2012 Heinz Velich.
The party was organised by FIN supremos Jan Ganser (fifth left) and his partner, renowned chef Benjawan Wisootat (sixth left).
